That’s definitely not something you want as it can affect you emotionally, which would in turn affect your studies or work.

Can Statuses Really Make Your Ex Jealous?

The answer is that it really depends on a few important factors…

1) Whether Your Ex Still Monitors Your Social Media

If your ex has blocked you, or removed you from his/her social media platforms…

Then changing your status to try and get your ex jealous would be pointless.

That’s because your ex would not even know if you’ve changed your status!

And obviously, if your ex doesn’t get to see your status, your ex can’t get jealous.

In this case, the only possible way your ex can get jealous is if you both have a mutual friend, and this mutual friend shares your status with your ex.

For example, if you changed your status to “I’m so glad to have met you :)”, and your mutual friend told your ex about what you wrote on your status…

Your ex could become curious, and this curiosity could lead to jealousy.

But there’s also no guarantees that your ex would react that way even if your mutual friend told your ex about your status.

That’s because if your ex had already decided to block you or remove you from his/her social media…

Then chances are that your ex isn’t interested in anything to do with you in the first place.

So changing your status to make your ex jealous would “fall on deaf ears“.

But if your ex still has your profile on his/her social media…

Then the next important factor that determines whether your status will make your ex get jealous is…

2) How Your Breakup Happened

Was your breakup a nasty one where there was fighting, arguing and nasty words said to each other?

Or was your breakup a calm and peaceful one, where you both talked it out and accepted that it was best for both of you to separate?

If your breakup was a nasty one with lots of fighting and arguing, then chances are that your ex might not even get jealous at all because he/she is relieved that you’re both no longer together.

So even if you put up a status that is meant to make your ex jealous, your ex may not react to it.

2) The Reason That Caused The Breakup?

Was the reason that caused your breakup something that hurt your ex deeply?

Or was the reason because your ex lost attraction towards you as the relationship became routine, boring and mundane towards the end?

These two different reasons can have a completely different reaction from your ex.

For example, if your ex broke up with you because you cheated on your ex, and you posted the status “I’m glad to have met you :)”…

Your ex might think it’s the person you cheated on your ex with.

And that could lead to your ex feeling even more resentment towards you.

But if the breakup happened because the relationship lost its spark, then the same status could create curiosity in your ex.

This curiosity could in turn make your ex jealous because your ex might recall the fun times you both had together…

And that could get your ex’s imagination running wild thinking that you’re having fun with someone else!

In fact, this was how a coaching client of mine got her ex back.

My client’s ex broke up with her because the relationship became boring and routine towards the end.

That created a loss of attraction in her ex towards her.

The fun and excitement was no longer there and her ex decided to break things off with her.

When a breakup happens because of a lost of attraction, one of the ways to get your ex back is to let your ex see that you’re no longer boring, but fun.

That’s when we came up with a plan to let her ex see that she can be out having fun, and that would incite jealousy in her ex.

And one of the things I told her to do was to post statuses that sounded like she was having fun, and also post photos of her having fun.

That worked really well because the moment her ex saw that, it made him very curious and jealous.

As a result of that, her ex contacted her and even told her that he missed her!

Needless to say, they eventually got back together, and it all started by posting a status that made her ex jealous.

3) How You Handled The Breakup

Did you handle the breakup well, or did you get emotional and handled the breakup poorly?

If you handled the breakup well, and acted positively after the breakup…

Then you have a better chance of getting your ex jealous compared to if you had handled the breakup poorly.

For example, this was what one of my coaching clients mentioned she did when the breakup happened:

“I did not handle it well at first. I yelled and texted nasty things because I felt betrayed. Then there was an argument over a birthday party of a mutual friend that he wanted to attend and wanted me not to.  I have also threatened him several times since then which I regret.”

In this case, my client’s ex already had such a negative perception towards my client that any status she posted would not have an effect on her ex at all.

In fact, if she had posted a status that suggests that she met someone new, her ex would most likely have felt relief to have her off his back.

So understanding your ex’s sentiment based on how you handled the breakup is important to determine whether posting a status can make your ex jealous or not.

4) Your Ex’s Relationship Status

Is your ex still single?

Or does your ex have someone new?

Needless to say, if your ex is single, there would be a greater chance your ex can get jealous from the statuses you post.

But if your ex already is with someone new, then there’s a lesser chance your ex would get jealous at all.

However, it doesn’t mean that your ex won’t get jealous at all.

For example, if your ex is unhappy in his/her current relationship, then seeing your status could get your ex to be jealous.

The good news is that people do tend to get unhappy in their relationship from time to time.

And if you’re lucky enough to have posted your status during a time when your ex is unhappy in his/her relationship, then there’s certainly a chance that your ex can be jealous.

Now that we know the factors that determine whether or not your ex can get jealous, the next important thing to understand is…

Can Making Your Ex Jealous Actually Get Your Ex Back?

While posting statuses that make your ex jealous can get your ex to think about you, it’s not enough to get your ex back to you.

That’s because your relationship still has issues which caused the breakup in the first place.

And before your ex can think about getting back with you again, your ex will be thinking about all the underlying issues in the relationship.

Unless these issues are resolved, the most your ex will feel is jealous, but it won’t seal the deal to bring your ex back to you.

Furthermore, you also want to be mindful that making your ex jealous can also potentially backfire.

That’s because your ex could try to make you jealous as well.

For example, I had a coaching client that before taking up my coaching, started posting statuses to make her ex jealous.

She even posted several pictures of herself hanging out with different guys.

She thought that it would make her ex jealous enough that her ex would regret breaking up with her, and subsequently want her back.

That did not turn out well because it backfired and her ex started to do the same.

Her ex started to post statuses and pictures that portrayed himself dating other women.

And that affected my client deeply to the point she got so emotional and reached out to her ex to say nasty things to him.

That obviously caused a fight with her ex and only made her ex feel more negative towards her.

So it’s important to understand whether making your ex jealous can actually help you, or hurt you in your situation.

Statuses That Do NOT Make Your Ex Jealous

If your intention is to make your ex jealous in order to get your ex back, then you must AVOID posting the following statuses at all cost:

• Why can’t all guys/girls be as good as my new boyfriend/girlfriend.
• I’m so glad I’m now with someone better.
• Thank God you’re no longer in my life!
• You know you’re with the wrong person if that can’t stick with you long enough.
• Can’t believe I had been in a relationship with a loser.
• Thank goodness I no longer have to fake my orgasm anymore!
• If you can’t appreciate me, it’s your loss.
• Thanks for letting me go because I never loved you anyway.
• If I could turn back time, I wish I had met someone else.
• I’m so happy now that I have my freedom back!

If you’re intending to get a reaction out of your ex just to get back at your ex, then by all means, you can certainly post these statuses.

But if you don’t want to close the door on potentially getting your ex back, then you must avoid posting any of the above statuses.

These statuses will only make your ex more resentful towards you, and feel more negative towards you.

And push your ex further, and further away from you.

Now that we got these out of the way, here are the…

Top 10 Statuses That Make Your Ex Jealous

Now, in order to have a status that makes your ex jealous, it must be:

• Ambiguous…
• A little mysterious…
• Able to incite curiosity in your ex…
• Able to stir up your ex’s imagination.

So here are the Top 10 statuses that does just that!

1) Thanks for the lift home 🙂

While this status can seem short and simple, it can really stir up your ex’s imagination of what might have happened.

Furthermore, by adding a smiley face at the end of your status, it can lead your ex to think that the person who sent you home is someone you’re dating.

Smiley faces can be a very powerful tool in making your ex jealous.

That’s because a smiley face can indicate that you may like this person.

While you never mentioned whether the person who sent you home is a guy or a gal, most of the time, your ex will think that this person is someone of the opposite sex.

Just this thought alone can get your ex’s heart racing!

That’s because when someone of the opposite sex sends you home, it could mean that you both had spent time alone outside.

And usually, you wouldn’t post that status if it’s your parents that sent you home, or a platonic friend that sent you home.

This would lead your ex to think that someone who is interested in you sent you home.

For example, your ex’s mind could be wondering…

Who is this person that sent you home?

Did you just the two of you have dinner together?

Was it a date?

Did you both kiss after sending you home?

If your ex had been the one to post this status on his/her social media, I’m pretty sure these questions would also pop up in your mind, right?

So while this status may be deceptively short and simple, it’s effect can be really powerful in making your ex jealous!

2) Thanks for being there for me 🙂

This status uses ambiguity as well as a smiley face.

It can invoke also wild imaginations in your ex’s mind like…

Who is this person?

Did you find someone new?

Did you tell someone about our breakup?

If you noticed, the status does not mention any person.

For all we know, it could simply be your pet dog, or a comfort food that you’re referring to in your status!

But your ex doesn’t know this, and this status can certainly make your ex jealous.

3) I’m always slow to open up to people for fear of showing my vulnerability, but you made it easy for me. Thanks!

When your ex sees this, your ex could again be thinking that you may have found someone new.

And if you’re a woman, your ex might be thinking that you are sharing something that’s very personal with this new guy.

For women, when guys are listening attentively and giving you their full attention, you could end up falling in love with this person because you’re at a vulnerable time where you want to feel loved.

And many men know this.

If you love watching romantic movies, you will recall that there are many movies where the woman shares her relationship issues with a seemingly platonic guy friend, and they end up falling in love!

If your ex have watched such movies before, then these imaginations can pop up in your ex’s mind making them feel extremely jealous.

4) Stop teasing me haha 🙂

Teasing is always a sign of attraction.

You generally tease someone when you’re fond of that person.

For guys, they love it when they see girls laugh.

So guys will often tease the women they like, and women do love men with a good sense of humour!

So when you post this status, it will get your ex to feel as if someone is trying to chase you.

And if your ex still has some feelings for you, this status will make your ex jealous.

5) Thanks for making me feel special again 🙂

Another status that utilises the smiley face!

If your ex sees this, your ex could be wondering who is making you feel special?

And the keyword here is “again”.

That suggests that you had once felt special before, but no longer feel it now.

It can get your ex to think that the other time you felt special was when you were with your ex.

But because you two broke up, you’re no longer feeling special.

And now that you’re saying that you’re feeling special again, it suggests that you found someone new.

And that status can make your ex jealous.

But of course, it doesn’t have to be someone of the opposite sex that made you feel special…

It could just be a good friend that brightened up your day and cheered you up!

It could even just be your favourite food that made you feel special again!

However, when it comes to exes, they will always think that it’s someone new and hence make them jealous.

6) Thanks for reminding me what fun feels like again!

Similar to the previous status, this suggests that someone is letting you feel fun “again”.

And this can lead your ex to wonder who this person is, and what you both did to have “fun”.

It can also get your ex to reminisce the times when you both had fun.

This could also add a little salt to your ex’s wound because this status also suggests that you didn’t have fun towards the end of the relationship with your ex.

And now you’re having fun with someone else!

If your ex is the possessive type, then certainly this status will make your ex jealous 🙂

7) They say that when you’re in love, you will feel like there’s butterflies in your stomach!

This is a very psychological one that requires your ex to read in-between the lines.

You aren’t actually saying that you feel like there’s butterflies in your stomach.

You’re just saying that that’s the feeling one would have when they are in love.

But your ex could conclude that the only reason you are posting that is because you are in love.

However, you could simply be in love with a new food which you just ate and posted this status.

But this would have done the trick of getting your ex curious, and could even possibly lead to your ex reaching out to you to find out more!

8) You know someone has a nice heart when they let you wear their shoes and walk home barefooted 🙂 

This is one of my favourite, if not my favourite, statuses to make an ex jealous.

And that’s because there’s a very strong imagery that comes with this status.

It’s the image of you wearing someone else’s shoes.

And your ex won’t think it’s just a normal, platonic friend’s shoes.

Most of the time, your ex would assume that it’s someone of the opposite sex that lent his/her shoes to you.

And you could either have interest in that person, or that person has an interest in you.

Otherwise, why would that person let you wear their shoes and walk home barefooted!

This can be even more powerful if you had a similar experience with your ex.

That means that your ex may have lent you his/her shoes and your ex walked barefooted.

If this actually did happen in your relationship with your ex, then this status will surely make your ex jealous…

And possibly even jealous enough to reach out to you to find out who this person is.

9) I finally learned to cook thanks to someone 🙂

Now, this doesn’t have to be cooking.

It could be taking up a new sport, learning a new language, or something that you had always wanted to do when you were with your ex but didn’t have the time.

Again, this status is ambiguous and can stir up wild imaginations in your ex.

Your ex will firstly wonder who is this “someone”.

Then your ex might go deeper in thought wondering what you two did, and how you enjoyed your time with this person.

Your ex might even wonder why you suddenly learned to cook (or whatever new hobby you took up).

All these thoughts in your ex’s head can certainly make your ex jealous!

10) When can I see you again?

Finally, this can really make your ex jealous thinking that you’ve found someone new.

And this would also suggest that you had a great time with this person.

This can bring back memories of the happy times you had with your ex where you may have said something similar to him/her before.

And when your ex thinks of this happy memory, it can get your ex feeling jealous because your ex could think that you are now having a good time with someone new.
